easy exams
Cons: long term paper with little instruction
Dr. Weatherspoon is AMAZING. She enjoys class conversation, she knows her stuff, and just a delight as a professor. If you attend class there is a lot of possible extra credit points. Many of the class sessions are filled with guest speakers from different cultural backgrounds, which are interesting to listen to. The exams are filled with little details, but if you attend class and study your notes before hand the exams are easy.
Cons: Rushes through her slides, guest and student presentation are usually horribly boring
Stupid class but you'll do fine, you need to study the lectures intensely and the handouts she puts on angel. Use your common sense, half multiple choice, half essay-but you can just list stuff. Go over student presentation questions, check over your stuff because the TAs can make mistakes (they grade everything) a big term paper but its not bad, can be on what you want and graded easy. Book is pretty pointless, she'll photocopy important pages. KNOW YOUR GUEST PRESENTATIONS
Cons: Everything
SO DISORGANIZED
Can't know grade
No way to succeed
I don't even know where to begin. This class would be super interesting if taught by someone else. She just lectures, says "particularly" about a million times, and is so unorganized. She didn't tell us what to read, the syllabus was wrong, the study guide isn't updated so it doesn't pertain to what you learn. She doesn't put grades on angel. She randomly decided to change how things were being graded and didn't tell anyone, I only found out because I asked her how much the extra credit quizzes were worth and then she couldn't even explain it. She's also one of the biggest bitches ever, extremely stuck up. I'm a freshman who 4.0 this class, and I have nothing but horror stories. The exams are weird, they ask extremely weird questions that no matter how much you study, you wouldn't ever know. For a class of about 60 and 3 TAs a GA and 2 profs, there should have been organization, but there was no way to succeed in this class other than to hope you remember random stuff. The ten page mid term is really easy though. Overall I would run away from this prof
Cons: There aren't many points, so each one counts. Also the exams are 50% essay, 50% multiple choice. Because there were so few questions, they were rather hard
Be very carful to look over your assignments and tests when you get them back; there are frequent grading errors. She will give you those points back if you submit them to her within 24 hours. But it is still anoying to have to check. I re-submited every singal assignment and exam for re-grading.
She doesn't post grades, so its hard to tell how well you are doing
none
Cons: She didn't teach the class at all. It was all Dr. Thompson or guest lecturers.
